For Friends Still in the Throes of Winter

And what else was there to do in the winter? Stay inside and read. Or write. Stay inside and dream. Stay inside and look, safely, outside. The Muse might as well be invited—who else would venture out?
-Patricia Hampl, A Romantic Education

Is it too much to say, in winter, that I die? Something of me dies at least.
-Frederick Buechner, Godric

Spring, summer, and fall fill us with hope; winter alone reminds us of the human condition.
-Mignon McLaughlin, The Second Neurotic's Notebook

It is a pleasure to the real lover of nature to give winter all the glory he can, for summer will make its own way and speak its own praises.
-Dorothy Wordsworth, Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth

Have a blessed weekend friends - and warm yourself in His embrace!

Yes, those are wonderful quotes indeed, and very true. I for one am very thankful for the long-awaited arrival of spring! Yesterday when the weather finally warmed up, I eagerly threw all the windows open, basking in the fresh, sweet air!

Yeah, it's happening slowly here in CT as well. I do have to say that I'm all for inviting the reading or writing muse in winter, but in the spring and summer, I love nothing more than to sit outside and read or write, which I was able to do yesterday while the kids played.

She lingered long, the white here , this year. But yesterday, she, reluctantly, drifted off. In her wake, the warmth rushed in to bide her adieu. We too went out and waved her off; splashed about in her tear puddles, sang farewell songs with the birds.

And yet He brings the seasons in due time, His time, again this year too.

Blessed Sabbath, Elise...
