A Blessed Weekend

We were so blessed to attend the CHOIS (Christian Homeschoolers of Idaho State) conference this weekend - with keynote speakers Steve and Teri Maxwell!

This couple and seven (of their eight!) children sang, spoke, prayed, and exhorted their audience in such a humble way. I purchased Managers of Their Homes and am so excited to crack it open tomorrow morning - I haven't even removed the plastic yet! I would love to further the flow of my household - I'm sure there are dozens of moments that could be better filled than they are.

Kevin and I were also able to shop at the used curriculum sale the day before the conference, and found over three-fourths of our needs for next year, for a few dollars less than what we had budgeted, praise God! We are keeping it simple, desiring to multi-level school again, involving Corban and Micah in each other's learning.

I am inspired, refreshed, and so very excited for the coming year, and have an even greater zeal for inviting the Lord to join my teaching days.

Thank you all for your sweet, encouraging words and prayers for me last week. To add further stress, I left Eliana with my sweet sister (thank you again, Abbie!) for both days! And there were babies EVERYwhere at the conference, so I missed her even more, yet we made it through. (Although she is a little clingy, but that's fine by me!)

Alas, I have not the time for a book review this week! If you are so inclined, and need some fresh choices for your library trip this week, do browse through past Children's Book Mondays.

Blessings on your day! Remember, feed, love, lead...

We were blessed to hear the Maxwell's speak last year at our conference. They are so encouraging to homeschoolers in leading their kids and discipling them!

I'm glad you had a good and encouraging time! I get so excited about homeschooling... I just can't wait for that time.
Well, I'm sure your sister had the time of her life with Eliana, but no doubt Mama is overjoyed to have her baby back!

How nice that you and your hubby work together in your homeschooling, my hubby says "you know whats best, so I'm leaving it to you" Sigh

Elise,
I borrowed the MOTH book from a friend and it did help me to do a better of job of, well, managing our home. I was inspired simply by the many other families that are showcased in the book. I hope you have fun with it.
I so enjoy your writing and sharing, Elise. Your blog really blesses me each time I sit down to read it. I don't post a comment very often but I do come here to "visit" you almost every week. thank you and God bless your sweet family,

Good for you! Glad you got to go and that Eliana was in good hands. Getting used books is the way to go. Now I have a bunch to get rid of! Yay! We're just finishing up eighth grade here!

I just linked to your blog from Andrea's. Such a lovely place, I know I'll be back. Glad to hear you had an exciting, inspiring convention.

I love your previous post and recalled the very same day my younger daughter did the same to me at 14 months. I empathise completely. But have a look at my own post today to see one of the many, many, many things you and your daughter will share in the future - if haven't even already!

Blessings to you and your family!

Wow!! I love the Maxwells and all of their books!! We have implemented MOTH and I have the Chore book but have not started it yet. One of my favorite books is theirs, Keeping Our Childrens Hearts." My husand has also been blessed by their Feed my Sheep devotional CD's. So happy you are feeling encouraged and ready for the new school year! Blessings!

What a blessing to hear the Maxwells! I totally flopped in implementing a schedule based on MOTH, but I was tremendously blessed by her book Homeschooling with a Meek and Gentle Spirit (in fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to read it again!). :)
I hope I can sing with all my kids someday, it would be so neat to lead worship as a family!
