This Journey

The washing machine is swishing, rocking on its uneven legs. The dryer is tumbling. I've overhauled the contents of our refrigerator, and there are lists scattered about like so many leaves on a fall day. Piles of clothes take form in my mind, and I've been muttering, "Wipes. Don't forget the wipes!" all day long.

We prepare for a journey this week; tomorrow morning, we pull out and head to Utah, first picking up my sister on the way. Pray for us, friends, as we look for a temporary home for our family until our house in Boise sells, and we know the area better to make an educated decision for the long-haul.

While we are away, the tenth anniversary of our marriage covenant will be celebrated! My beloved and I had dreamed of being in Europe for this momentous date, but here and now, surrounded by the three children that made us such a family, we smile over their blonde heads and imagine... someday. For now, life takes precedence over travels and the future is exciting. We are so thankful to have been blessed with this time together, and we wanted to share with you a slide show of these ten years past, and the blessings along the way! Enjoy!

I shall be absent from this place for the week, but present with my family. I look so forward to visiting with you all again, and "talking" with you - you are such an encouragement!

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July, and a wonderful week!

Love,
Elise

Y'all are such a handsome family! Did I miss something? Are you from Utah? Have we talked about that before (since we lived there from about 92-97)?

Have safe travel. And happy anniversary!

I am SO sad because my flash player mysteriously BROKE on my computer and I cannot fix it! I want to watch your journey to the beautiful couple that you are today!! (me whining)

Oh well, I will be praying for your travels and can't wait to get reconnected when you are settled.

Tim and I were in the van on our 5th anniversary this June - we were on our way up here for the funeral. Tim and I also exchanged several glances that communicated the same thing: nowhere else we'd rather be.

Peace to you sister. Peace.

I haven't been commenting much lately, but I HAVE been praying for you as I knew the time was drawing close for your move. I will continue praying. May Jehovah Nissi the Lord our Banner go before you and may He lead you to the place that He has prepared for you for this time!

I loved watching the slide show! My heart is so full for you and my eyes are once again brimming! God has blessed you with such a beautiful family. May he continue to bless you for the next 10 years and beyond.

Much Love and Continued Prayers,
Angel

P.S. How is it possible to miss someone that you've never even met in real life? Sniff!

Elise,
What a beautiful slide show, and congratulations on your anniversary. You have a precious family. I have to tell you that your posts encourage me, and comfort my heart. I first started reading you about six months ago, just after finding out how far our 19 year old daughter had run from her Father, God. She is still running, but your post "Found" on January 16 really pierced my wounded heart. As I cry out to God for her, I still remind myself that she is lovingly tagged "My Name is Beloved" and "If Found, Please Return to God". The Shepherd is following after her, no matter how steep and rocky the trail may become, and soon He will come carrying her back to the fold. I pray that you enjoy this time away with your family, and that find that the next steps on your path are mapped by God's grace. I will miss your posts, and look forward to your return.

Utah? I went to college there! Have you made known why you are going there and I forgot, or did I miss it?

It is a beautiful place. I have several believing friends and their families who live in the area, just north of SLC in Ogden.

I will miss you Elise. I will be here when you get back. Isn't it lovely that no matter where in the world we move our blog homes here and our friends here can stay the same!

This is my first visit to your site and this post has me in tears. It's so beautiful! Happy 10th anniversary!

It's such a thrill to hear your attitude when talking about your dreams of a "romantic anniversary" versus the real life of having a house full of kids! You and your husband may yet get that chance in Europe, but you won't get these days with your kids again! Enjoy them!

And have a nice trip. I hope it all falls together for you!

Hope all goes well with your trip. Happy aniversary to you and Kevin. Ten years! I bet it's hard to believe in some ways.

Elise -
My Beloved fixed my computer from 3000 miles away!!! So I just watched your slideshow and wept with gratitude for your family, your love, and your covenant!!
I also wept for the songs - I will add some of them to my player as well. Ones I haven't heard in a while but have a special place in my heart. Thank you, sister. Love you.

Elise?
I sit here and cry. Funny why we do this: cry when we feel such love. Love for Him and what He is doing in the lives of people we have never met. So I brush away the tears and smile. There. That is what I mean: Joy. Joy for you. Joy for those three little souls who gather under your love. Joy for Your Maker. How He is exalted in you.
Dance on. It is beautiful, and I applaud.
Love, my friend,
Ann
