He's home.
Tonight he stepped over the threshold that he was wheeled over on a stretcher less than a week ago.
The front door was "wrapped" in a present that said "Welcome Home, Papa! We love you!"
Candles were lit, lamps burning, his favorite music playing. All in an attempt to make his homecoming light, bright and merry.
But perhaps most poignant was Mama's decision in packing the shirt for him to wear home - choosing the very one he was wearing when his heart attack occurred. It was already washed and hanging in the closet - and she chose it because of its' significance; too great to stuff it away and never use it again - why not have it worn at a time of rejoicing?
A time we could very well be spending at a funeral - and instead, we are looking into his sparkling green eyes and welcoming him home ourselves!
All is well.
I thoroughly enjoyed the sight of my Mama and Papa, walking up the stairs, hand in hand. And my heart said, "All is well."
The words to a song of the same name have been flowing through my mind ever since. So I would like to share it with you - my sweet blogging friends, who have upheld me in prayer, and remembered me and my Papa - my whole family, really, with your kind words.
All is Well
All is well
All is well
Angels and men rejoice
For tonight darkness fell
Into the dawn of love's light.
Sing Alleluia
All is well
All is well
Let there be peace on earth
Christ is come
Go and tell
That he is in the manger
Sing Alleluia
All is well
All is well
Lift up your voice and sing
Born is now Emmanuel
Born is our Lord and Saviour
Sing Alleluia
Sing Alleluia
All is well.
Indeed - All is Well! The Glorious Coming is upon us. Lift up your voice, and sing!
I am.
I'm going home tomorrow. And all is well.

Praising God with you! He got to go home quite quickly, didn't he? What a gift this season!
Yes, praise Him!
So glad he is home!!
Will be praying for more strength for him, and your mama.
Wonderful!!!!
Thanking Him with you,
~Stacy
So glad your Papa's finally home wearing his symbol of God's strength!
Praise God. Praise. God.
I'm rejoicing with you!

I'm so happy for you! What a joyful homecoming.
I am glad your father is returning home and all is well. My father had a heart attack this August and had to have an immediate quadruple bypass.
You are very blessed to have a mother who can scold him if he overdoes it now that he is home. My mother is living at home and is in the end stages of Alzheimer's and, if not for God's presence in my life, I would have to say all is not well. As it is, though, I will say that "it is well with my soul".
God bless you and your family. I will keep the sparkly-eyed man in my prayers. ;)
Praise the Lord ... He has truly blessed you and your family!
What a wonderful homecoming! The thought of them walking up the stairs together is precious. Blessings, indeed!
Elise,
Sorry you had this scare but joyful that your Papa did return home. I can just see your parents walking hand in hand. How many years have they been married?
My Dad died of a massive heart attack at 53yo when I was pregnant with our first baby! What an assurance to know he is "absent from the body and present with the Lord" but bittersweet that he is not with us to see! Give your Papa an extra big hug next time you see him for me!
Thanks for letting me share my story..
