As promised, here is Corban's writing assignment for this week, inspired by the book I reviewed on Monday. Enjoy a blessed weekend, everyone!
A Wonderful Summer Celebration
By Corban Hooper (and Mama Hooper as grammar coach)
The people of Sherwood Forest had a wonderful summer celebration!
They had a wonderful celebration because they found gold and rubies on the road.
They found gold and rubies on the road because it had fallen out of the Sheriff’s carriage.
The gold and rubies had fallen out of the carriage because a tree fell on it.
A tree fell on it because it was stuffed full of acorns.
It was stuffed full of acorns because the chipmunks had stored too many for the winter.
They had stored too many for the winter because Little John had bumped a tree and knocked them all off.
Little John had bumped the tree because he was dancing.
Little John was dancing because his feet were burned by hot stew.
Little John's feet were burned by hot stew because an arrow had knocked over the pot.
An arrow hit Little John's stew pot because Robin Hood had fired it into the bushes.
He had fired it into the bushes because Will Scarlet said, “We’re under attack!”
Will Scarlet had said, “We’re under attack!” because a rock hit him in the head.
A rock hit him in the head because Robin Hood's horse had kicked it.
Robin Hood's horse had kicked it because Robin Hood was making him run fast.
Robin Hood was making his horse run fast because he wanted to catch the Sheriff and steal the gold back for the people of Sherwood Forest!

A great story idea! And a wonderful job! We haven't done much in the way of formal writing assignments yet...do you have a curriculum you recommend, or do you come up with it all yourself? (Obviously, Corban has a great writing teacher!) :)
