Children's Book Monday

Have but a few moments to post a review of my favorite find at the library this week!

Around the Year
by Tasha Tudor

As we come into the fall of the year, I am naturally drawn to the pumpkin colors and stewed vegetable scents of the season. Tasha Tudor's book about the months of the year caught my eye and I immediately sat and read through it right there at the library!

Every month has a four page spread, two color pages and two black and white. The drawings, as always, by Ms. Tudor evoke warm and fuzzy feelings - who can resist them? Even more important than how you feel about the book, you will be pleased at your children's reaction, and if you are learning the months of the year with a little one, this is the perfect book. The months and their activities are set into poem form, and flow neatly throughout.

The poem is reprinted at the end of the book for you to enjoy in its fullness - we are going to memorize and recite it for Daddy on October the first! Dinner including a slow-cooked beef stew and fresh homemade bread, of course. Pumpkin pie for dessert, perhaps?

Happy Reading!

I guess we can swap Tasha Tudor books today, Elise. I have not read Around the Year. Have your read my pick for this week?

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who will sit in the Children's Section of the library and read a book right there! :)

Wonderful book... I love Tasha Tudor.

And your October dinner sounds so yummy. Can we come too?

Hmmm...maybe we will have to memorize the poem, and replicate your dinner. Sounds wonderfully homey!
