Patience

The thing about gardens is: if you want a smackerel of something, you have to be patient.
~Winnie-the-Pooh

The birds like our garden this year- a little too much; we've lost a pepper plant and some corn to the mama turkey and her young who like to use our yard as a shortcut. Regardless, the boys rejoice over every blossom on the pumpkin plant and every tassel on the corn that has survived the pecking birds, but...

...Eliana already found and ate my first three cherry tomatoes.

Patience, little ones.

so precious. my two year old finds great joy in bringing me a new onion once or twice a day. the other day he wandered into the tomato patch while I was digging potatoes and I had to chuckle when I overheard him say; "Ew. Yucky apple". Green tomato. Haven't got much of a bountiful picking on anything besides rhubarb and potatoes so far, as the rest the kids keep nibbling away at as they come.

Oh, wonderful Elise! What a sweet picture. I'd love to have an awesome garden like this... maybe next year. Continue blessings on the fruit of your hard work!

Patience is, I firmly believe, the heart and purpose of a garden. It is like a family.

"Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get." H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

The best care is patience.

We're sad that the birdies ate all of our strawberries this year. :(

Love your picture! How is the pregnancy going, Elise? You are often in my thoughts and prayers. I'm somehow encouraged by just knowing that you are also raising a two-yr old (!) while being pregnant and having sons to keep up with... not for the faint-hearted, but so worth the effort! love Anya

Precious Eliana - she better not be eating my tomatoes...even if we thought the plant was going to die anyways. :o) JK
