Perhaps my sisters brought the seamstress gene with them and (finally) shared it with me, because while Aunt Abbie (or Ann Tabby, as we like to call her!) was here, she handed me a vintage pillowcase and verbally walked me through sewing a dress out of it for my girl...
Then Ann Tabby left, and I thought, That's that! But then look what I did last week!
(Note: this one was not nearly as well-made as Ann Tabby's tutorial- but we do love the slits in the side so that she can run!
Next up? A nightdress like Wendy's, because I love these dresses, Mama, but they don't twirl!
May your creativity abound this weekend, kind friends!
~{loosely followed} tutorial found here- I think the only difference is that Abbiemade me gently urged me to make my own bias tape from the excess and use it for the ties as well. So I did.

So Sweet. I knew who Wendy was before I even clicked.
I sadly cannot sew, my Kylie sews her own (and her sister's) ballet shoe ribbons on! Terrible! Keep the tutorials coming, maybe I will learn.
P.S. Thank you for your responses. I'll get our info out to you this evening if Baby doesn't wake up. And, your Boy Book note was Perfect!
Good Night!

ooohhh...please share!! I'm always looking for great sewing ideas that are quick and easy. I would love to know how this is done!!
Last summer, my sister-in-law mailed Maddie one of these sweet pillowcase dresses for her birthday. She wore it again this year and we are thinking it will make a beautiful tunic top next year. So cool and sweet and girly!
ooh - too cute! she's a sweetheart, too!
Lovely, may you have many more adventures in this sewing journey!
Hooray, Elise! Sooo cute!
I love it that Eliana wants some twirl, though. :)
I LOVE the pillowcase dresses! Did you notice that the 1st dress you posted matches your blog header. :o) Love it. Love you!
Love, love, love it! Eliana is quite the little beauty :-)
Beautiful! Thanks for posting the directions too. I was inspired to get my machine back out after a 6 month break and made one just today for a friend's daughter.
Eliana is growing into such a beautiful young lady, just like her mama. I haven't been commenting a lot, but I have definitely been checking in on you. Love the dress. This mama has not a sewing gene in her body, but I admire you!
