The Facts

I was tagged with this meme long ago by Sarah, and now I'm finally getting around to telling you seven random facts/habits about me - I did it once before, so I struggled a bit this time, but I did manage to think of some more things...

1. Nutri-Grain bars give me a headache. Really. Even the smell of them. So I enjoy Kashi granola bars instead!

2. Every. single. time I listen to Meditation from "Thais", I cry when the violin reaches high "E". My family knows to be silent, not to interrupt Mama during that part. I'm sure they think I'm crazy - they stand frozen in place as silent tears run down my face. They're never going to want their friends to come over. (I wish the part I am talking about could be heard on the sample, but you'll get the basic idea! It's haunting and stirring, isn't it?)

3. In high school, I could type one hundred and twenty words per minute - correctly - and the entire alphabet in four seconds. Nowadays I still type quickly, but is it correct? Not so much.

4. My favorite flower is the carnation. Mostly for its scent - oh, so pleasant. Yellow carnations are the best. (My husband does read my blog from time to time, but I'm not hinting - he already knows this information!)

5. I love to listen to "Adventures in Odyssey". Still. I grew up listening to them, and enjoy them now as I scrub a toilet, cook dinner, or make my menus. My children love them, too, so now I can pass it off to my husband as "their idea"!

6. I love to dance. Ballet was my method of choice as a young girl, but here and now, it's all about worship. Chris Rice, Fernando Ortega, Sara Groves, and most recently with Eliana it's all about Celtic Woman! Not so much worship music - but it's really about Who we're dancing for, isn't it?

7. My hair is waist-length. Most days it spends its time up in some sort of knot, but now and then it is down, or braided, so baby hands can stroke it during the sermon, or little noses can be tickled. It seems to be a hit over here, so I plan on leaving it alone!

So there you go! Seven more things about me. I think I went a little "link happy", but it was fun - thanks for reading!

So fun! Loved reading this.
And I *never* thought you had waist length hair...please post a picture!! :) I always thought it was shoulder length!

Mine is about halfway down my back. My husband loves long hair. My girls have waist length hair.

Wow! I wanna see this hair too! If I grew mine that long, it would be so non-existent at the ends, it would not be pretty. I have fine hair, so mid back is about the longest I will go. I wish I could hear this part of the song that makes you cry. Isn't music amazing at reaching the soul! Thanks for doing this!

Elise, always fun to know you better! I love your hair, and your sisters' hair, too. Your darling Mama brought us dinner tonight - and Maddie made gingerbread cookies! We love you and your great family!

There is a Matt Redman song on his Facedown CD which makes me cry like that (This is a gifted response). Music is such a powerful medium!

I echo the cries for a picture of your long locks! :) I keep trying to grow my hair longer, but mid-back is the longest it gets. Right now it's that long and desperately in need of a trim!

I agree, Elise, this was so fun to read!

I've always wanted to have long hair, and have tried numerous times to grow it out, but mine seems to go lifeless once it gets just a bit past my shoulders. *sigh*

I'd love to see a picture of your hair in all its glory, but more than that, I'd love to see you dance. Post a video clip? *wink*

Hope that things are going OK for Janet...I've been praying.

sounds like you have lovely hair. where's the picture of it?

hehe...I to have moments in songs that I want no one to disturb me for that few seconds. Music is what brings me to the feet of Jesus so quickly.

Sense everyone else is talking about your hair..... ;-)
I too pictured you as a shoulder length kinda gal. Isnt it funny how we create an image of someone in our minds.

Off to drink my tea.....your right it is very bitter, I drink it cold and down it quickly. LOL

I'm glad to see a fellow carnation-lover out there! They are great and the smell is heavenly! I also have to smurk at the fact that a Church of Christ preacher's wife is discussing dancing to worship music--with instruments and everything..[gasp]!! LOVE IT!! No, in all seriousness, I always love reading your posts because you have such wonderful, vivid descriptions! Reading about the way you love the song "Meditation" makes me want to go out and hear it, myself! Talk to you later!

I enjoy listening to Chris Rice - although I must admit I haven't heard much of his recent work. I love his Deep Enough to Dream cd... it brings back such wonderful memories of a trip my husband and I took to NYC. We listened to that album all the way down and back!

This was fun... I enjoyed learning 7 new things about you! I did this on my blog a couple of weeks ago, too.
Your hair sounds so beautiful! My husband loves my hair long too, but I can't seem to get it to waist length. It was that long back when I was a young girl, though. I'm sure your hubby and little ones love your hair :-)

Wow about your hair! I'm sure the kids adore it. My favorite color is yellow and I love sunflowers but I love the smell of carnations, too!

Yes, ditto on the hair thing! That is amazing and I also want to see a picture... soon!

I also grew up on Adventures in Odyssey (and McGee and Me too). Just listening to them transports back to childhood. I love it!

Thanks for the link to the music! It's good for me to be putting names with these familiar pieces.

And 6? I love it, and agree completely. My Fifi is all about the Celtic music right now too. I'm sure she secretly wishes she were Irish.

Hair? Did she say something about hair? I am stuck on the 120 wpm. Cue the thunderous applause. ~huge smile~ Elise? Dance on!

All's grace,
Ann

(P.S. For me today, it was Mr. Ortega's "Let the Words of my Mouth", about 79 times. Really. Tears a few times. No dancing. Just upraised hands and a broken spirit. Thank you, Elise. Indebted and grateful.)

I'm totally with you on the Kashi bars...

And I get you also on the music, but my tastes are not quite so sophisticated as yours.... My kids must be quiet for Toby Mac..:)
