Lord, please be with us today-
Bless our school in every way.
We promise to listen to
Everything You say!
Help us as we learn new things,
Guide us as we count and sing.
When Mama speaks, we'll be meek
To honor You, our King!
Lord, we want to learn and grow,
Because You gave us minds, and so
We'll begin following
The way that we should go!
Bless our school in every way.

Almost four years ago, I scribbled some words on a scrap of paper, set them to a simple tune, and taught The Invitation to my children.
My heart's desire was to teach them to see the Lord as our Help in all things; my early morning prayers at that time had been cries for guidance and inspiration as I dealt with almost-two-year-old Eliana's toddler antics during school hours. Why not lead my children in a request for the Presence at "break of school day"?
Years later, we still begin Circle Time (or Grove Tending, here at Sapling Academy) with an invitation; legs are longer, voices are deeper (!), and now there are four. Wonderfully enough, if I don't start singing as we sit down cross-legged on the floor, someone invariably will.
We're so thankful that He always responds.

Love it!
I am so glad that you shared this again! I remember writing it down when you first posted it, but that paper is long lost and the song is much more needed now! I am so excited to teach this to my little ones! And I seriously can't believe how grown-up your not-so-little-anymore ones are! How time flies...
P.S. And thank you so so much for your sweet comment on my blog awhile back and your prayers. I appreciate + treasure them so much. xo
Oh goodness. I love the way your eldest smiles upon your little ones. And...I believe that when I listened to this a few years ago, his voice hadn't yet changed. What a treasure to have this taped as the years go by, as you add children to the family and your little ones grow big. My mama's heart swells for you! (And I did.not.have.tears thinking of my own little ones growing up. So.)
:) Amara
Thank you for sharing this. My oldest is 4, and he asked to watch this video about 12 times this morning. He said he wanted to do that when we start school. So we may borrow your tradition when we begin kindergarten together next fall...
Precious moments Elise. I can hardly believe how much they've all grown.
It was a joy to be part of your little circle this morning!
Sweet. It warms my heart when my older children still join in on the Littles' fun :)
Love, kathi
That is so precious.
I wish I was a Mom. :)
Still as beautiful today. So calming. Thank you.
Oh, what a lovely way to start the day! We may have to borrow that idea and begin our own tradition. Your kids have grown so much! :)
Wonderful to see their smiling faces, esp. your older boys. :)
I can't believe how they have all changed and grown. ANd the voice coming out of Cor! Oh, my goodness! Colin's voice hasn't begun to change yet...coming soon, I'm sure. :)
Would you mind sharing the video?
Just printed out the words and listened to your video several times. I think we are all ready for tomorrow morning. My little people are 7, 5, 3 (well, 2 for a couple more weeks!)
Thank you for sharing. I'll let you know how it goes :)
